While in Jeddah we came the closest to the two holy cities of Medina, where the prophet Mohammed is buried, and Mecca (or Makkah) where the Grand Mosque is located. To think that more than a billion people turn towards this city and pray five times daily really makes you think about dedication to a religion. Inside the Grand Mosque is the Kabaa where once Abraham built an alter with his son Ishmel. Mohammed later destroyed all the idols that people were worshiping and declared that there is one God. To be a pilgrim to Mecca is one of the five pillars of Islam, and this year the Haij is in January. More than 2 milllion people will be coming together for three days to worship...
